I had a really good Marathon today, Beat the 4 hour goal that I was hoping to do. Ran with Booty For about 20 miles then solo for the last 10k. Had enough in the tank to really excel the last 6 miles although mile 24 hill almost did me in. Booty had a really good race too! Finishing 2nd in her age group. I finished 3rd in mine. Nice to see Carl this morning.

2016 Wabash Trace Nature Trail Marathon

The hip I've been whining about got the best of me today. Nothing snapped it popped, but, yeowch, unbearable pain @ 7.5ish. Gut reaction said to shut it down, so I slogged my way into the next aid station. A nice couple there gave me a ride into Shenandoah (no aid @ aid station, no way to handle someone pulling the plug, right then and there).

Up early so I can go watch the Husker game. A 10 AM MST start doesn't give me much wiggle room to sleep in. After the Husker game I'm going to head over and watch the CSU game. My ticket was a bit cheaper than Husker games.

It was a bit chilly this morning. Glad I grabbed gloves although short sleeves were, for the most part, ok. Had the great experience of completely soaking my shoes and socks just before the 2 mile mark which made for some fun early miles.

Slept 7 and a half hours!! Woke up with yoga. Great start to the day.

Yesterday--bummer. So stormy for the meet. They delayed and then had Varsity run. Molly was first alternate, so was going to run JV. She was ready. I was soaked. I watched the Varsity races with McCrackens. Seth. Oh my gosh. Through the pouring rain. It was like a movie. Amazing. Then all the JV was lined up. Boom. Lightning. Boom. Cancel. I think Molly was about to cry. I know I was!! Felt so bad for these girls! Darnit!! :/

So I just dropped off Molly at Pioneers Park for practice and really almost had a Zen-like moment. Seeing the sleepy high schoolers ready to run some xc on this beautiful day. I exchanged hellos with other runners. Got some thumbs up and well wishes. Got lots of encouragement. And I thought, how fortunate we all are. Sharing this common bond. Always. :)

Now, packing up. Getting ready to get the heck out of town. Looking forward to it. I feel like if my hamstring was good, I would really be ready. We will see. Carl gave me excellent advice yesterday. Sometimes what we think is the most courageous thing, isn't always that. It's sometimes just the opposite. Yep, think on that! Excellent advice. :)
