Don't know if yesterday and today's run were flukes with average paces between 7:35-7:40. My number in my head for my aerobic pace is more like 8:15ish, but I just went with what "felt" aerobic out there. Perhaps it was the factors of two January days in a row with temps in the 40's; and wearing shorts. Taper for L.A. has now begun!

Won't be running in shorts again for awhile. Top of right for started to hurt about two miles in. Kept getting worse then started working its way up my leg in to my knee. Limped it home.

Yesterday as I got ready to run I walked out of my mother in law bedroom in my running pants. She grabs the roll around my stomach and made a snarky comment about my weight. Yes I have a roll around my stomach I can't get rid of. I might need to just start starving myself to see if that will eliminate it. But my mother in laws comment, really? Do you say worse to your 275 lb son?
  • Dan Dan Sorry about the injury. And yes, what your mother-in-law said was rude.

It's a Linoma Loop.
Some history for you Carl: In 2009 I had several meetings with the Holy Family Shrine. Pitched the notion of a 10K that would benefit and start at the Shrine, go out on Fishery, turnaround and back. They were keen but the adjoining property owner wouldn't allow for necessary parking. Fast forward to 2011/12. I had several meetings with the City of Ashland, the Army National Guard, and the new owners of the Linoma Beach Lighthouse. Hopes were to have a half marathon that would help restore the lighthouse. Again out and back on Fishery. Ultimately too many aspiring cooks fouled a perfectly good dish. The result was Nebraska Run Guru Events, LLC
  • carljsamuelson carljsamuelson Didn't know about The Shrine 10k; but, I, very much, remember being excited about the Linoma Beach Half. Had no idea you were involved w/ that! Dig the history!

Gretna [20160131]: Peace on Fishery

Fishery, from Aquarium to Shrine and back, handful of deer on the road @ one point. Peaceful, serene. For a few hundred yards, I was alone, and, as cheesy as it sounds, I felt like I reached a zen like point. Just felt so damn peaceful. Odd.

Thanks to Mo, JayZ & TMac for the invite to come play in their backyard.

Wide variety of road conditions this morning. Wet, snow covered, mud, ice and even some dry spots in the middle of the other types. Not too bad out. Looks like it is going to clear off at least for today. Hoping the forecast is wrong as I have a full week of basketball, track, and a meeting or two.

ran to memorial park then downtown to the pedestrian bridge into Iowa. Missed a turn before the bridge and had to climb a fence. Looped back to Omaha. Ran the riverfront. Passed the slides. Couldn't pass up a chance to go down them. Headed west to cemetery hill on leavenworth and through elmwood. Quite an adventure before 8am.
