Track workout at X. Warm up 3.5 miles with 5 x 100 strides. 4 x 1600 (400 jog rest). Cool down 4 miles.

You just never know what's going to happen with this running stuff. Last Wed was a crappy workout. Sun was a crappy race. Warm up felt crappy. Decided on 4 sets conservatively targeting 7:20-7:30. First one felt harder than it should have and I was worried that I ran it too fast. And then my body decided it was ready to work.

7:22, 7:11, 7:06, 6:58

Really good workout. First 2 with Mary and Katie, Third with Mary. Last one solo. Cool down (2 road miles with Fink, 2 track miles solo) felt far easier than it has in a long time.

To the pool to keep recovering, but mostly to get a hot shower post swim. :) 2000 yards swim. 1000 yards pull. Felt really good. Tried some kick, but the legs weren't having any of that.

We went to the movie Don't Breathe last night. Creepy. To say the least. :/

Happy HumpDay.

Started late today but it was light out. Saw one of the last remaining loons (or maybe just passing through) taking a tubby, splashing in the water. And then, he took off and was gone. Godspeed and love to you, Loon. xo

Weights too.

  • BetzE BetzE Love the loons! Did you see my facebook page - the story about Andy Jacob and the Lake Harriett streetcar? We lived just 1/2 mile from the lake and Andy's younger brother and Danny were best friends when we lived there. Great story. Tear jerker for me :)

I get to register for the 2017 Boston Marathon today at 9:00 am! I take nothing for granted. My qualifying race time is 3:12:45 (2016 LA marathon), which is 12 minutes under the men's 45-49 standard, and I *hope* this gets me in. I also hope that I can continue to keep qualifying and running Boston in future years. Barring injuries and assuming there is no problems with my next 2 marathons (Northern Ohio next month and the Louisiana Marathon next January), etc., and IF I get into Boston 2017, it will be my 12th Boston and 50th marathon overall. And, I will turn 50 years old two days after Boston...hence the "50/50" celebration!
