Tempo run today, went well.

Saw an opossum. He started the cross the path but then scurried back into the brush.

Headed to Tampa tomorrow for an art journaling retreat. Jack is tagging along. 88/73, party sunny each day. :)

    • posted at 02:15:00 EDT
  • getfuzzy getfuzzy ^well, Minnesotans have a distinct accent when pronouncing their Os, so I definitely say O-possum. But possum seems to be preferred. However, Mr. Webster has opossum in the dictionary. :)))

HIIT🎉
NDORFNZized from Strava

Before work. Yikes I'm sore!

So, a big race question...how important are tangents? Apparently, very!! Matt said I did them terrible in Des Moines. My watch said I ran 13.24 miles. And my average pace was 732. Now I know a 1:40 half is a 740 pace. And I knew I was under that, but the finish line would not get to me!! I almost screwed myself. Finish time of 1:39:49. But my half marathon time on my watch said 1:38:40. Very disturbing. :/. Lesson learned--cut corners. Whenever possible. :D

Happy HumpDay!

  • justinmollak justinmollak Cut corners for sure. Even if that means cutting in front of someone. :-) only in racing though

  • Dan Dan Two other things to remember. When courses get certified, they err on too long vs too short. Also, Garmin is not 100 percent accurate.
    • posted at 10:25:00 EDT
  • Dan Dan Tangents are tricky. My longest Garmin reading for the marathon was 26.54 Chicago 2011. Lots of turns on that course make for lots of error in tangent judgments.
    • posted at 10:27:00 EDT
  • justinmollak justinmollak ^chicago also messes with the reception for gps watches. Signal bounces off all of the concrete and steel buildings.
