You may have seen in the local news where Gov. Ricketts refused to sign a proclamation honoring Ted Genoways' book "This Blessed Earth: A Year in the Life of an American Family Farm" for statewide recognition. Ted is a personal friend of mine for decades and the book has won countless acclaim and awards including One Book One Nebraska Selection and All Iowa Reads selection. Ricketts openly confesses to having not read the book and his decision is based because he believes that Ted's personal views are "divisive"... Wow, exactly who is being divisive here? It is a great book about a 5th generation Nebraska family farm and tying their current struggles in with the history of American farming. I only hope the current controversy will generate more interest and sales in Ted's book. Website is www.tedgenoways.com and Ted is on Twitter at tedgenoways.
